Bodil Kjaer Cabinet-Sideboard

Price: On Application

Very rare sideboard or cabinet from the Danish designer Bodil Kjaer made by E. Pedersen & son, Denmark 1960s.

With sliding doors on castors and beautiful elegant metal door handles.

Young executives that Bodil Kjær encountered in her work in architecture and design in the late 1950s were open, creative and flexible in their way of working. So, she reasoned that it would be counter-productive for them to be offered traditional office furniture, and set out to design a system of office units from which they could create their own work environment — and change it according to the changing nature of their work. Designed in 1959 as a series of elements of architecture.

An identical cabinet featured in the 1960s in the New York Times and The Sunday Times. It became even more famous when it was in some of the first James Bond films: ‘From Russia with love’ & ‘You only live twice’. The desk also appeared prominently in BBC election broadcasts.
